Implant Dentistry offers todays patients function on a predicatable basis. Presently, the main concern for both clinicians and patients is achieving esthetic, lasting implant results and preventing complications and failures. This course will focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of problems with dental implants in the anterior and posterior jaw region. The indications and solutions for re-treatment of failing, failed or malpositioned implants will be discussed.
Soft Tissue Management and Grafting around Dental Implants - Esthetic and Mucogingival solutions

This lecture will present the different techniques to enhance the aesthetic emergence profile of the implant site and the health of the peri-implant tissues. Oral plastic surgical procedures like connective tissue augmentation, mucogingival treatment and special soft tissue flap designs for predictable bone graft coverage will be presented. New techniques for uncovering of implants with hydrokinetic laser therapy without local anesthesia will also be shown.

The second lecture will emphasize the largely pneumatized with little crestal bone, the sinus with hypertrophic epithelium, the need for advanced diagnostic tools and the bone graft of choice for the advanced case. The implant design and surface for these sinus cases will be discussed. In addition, the need for ridge augmentation simultaneous with sinus augmentation will be presented. The timing of graft healing and implant placement and loading will be presented. A new technique to prepare the sinus window using a hydrokinetic laser (Waterlase) will be introduced.
Sinus augmentation using the osteotome and lateral window technique with implant placement

The first lecture in a series of sinus augmentation will describe the evidence in the literature, the clinical techniques and when a simplified approach like the osteotome technique is applicable. The lateral window technique will be emphasized in combination with implant placement and the anatomical and diagnostic parameters for simultaneous implant placement. The discussion of autograft versus bone fillers will be started and completed in the second lecture. Complications and medications used for sinus augmentation will be presented.
Vertical ridge augmentation using alveolar distraction osteogenesis (DO)

This lecture presents the Distraction Osteogenesis (DO) technique and its limitations. While evidence for DO is moderate to strong, case selection, as always, is very important. Both the indications and the clinical steps that make this procedure, which does not necessitate a bone harvest, a success are discussed. Complications seen with this technique and its treatment are highlighted.
Vertical ridge augmentation using GBR procedures

This lecture presents evidence from the literature supporting the use of particulated bone grafts and titanium reinforced Gore-Tex membranes for predictable vertical and horizontal ridge augmentation. A step-by-step clinical demonstration of the necessary elements to improve the successrate with this very powerful regeneration procedure. Diagnosis, indications, medications, flap design, bone harvesting site, membrane management and fixation and soft tissue release and suturing will be discussed in detail. Possible complications and their treatment are presented.
Immediate tooth replacement using a flapless approach

Tissue preservation is the main focus of this presentation. This lecture will discuss in detail the indication and steps for immediate tooth replacement of a healed and a fresh extraction socket. The needed bone quantity and quality, soft tissue biotype and implant choice and stability will be presented. Flapless surgery has increased in indication due to its simplicity and atraumatic healing capacity, but needs to be executed carefully to ensure implant success.
Extraction site bone grafts and immediate vs delayed implant placement

This lecture will highlight the different treatment options for extraction sockets with implants. The presentation will focus on the sequences of treatment for sockets with healthy and inflammed tissues, the timing of implant placement, the bone graft of choice, membrane placement or not and which cases are good candidates for immediate implantation. The concept of immediate, early and delayed loading will be discussed with an emphasis on the extraction socket defect.
Horizontal Bone augmentation using bone grafts and non-resorbable membranes

This lecture will focus on the moderate to large jaw bone deficiency in which the bone regeneration technique becomes vital to the survival of the implant. The viewer will learn the step for step clinical management of soft and hard tissues, incision techniques, bone harvesting procedures for autologous grafts, non-resorbable gore-tex membrane placement and suturing techniques. This lecture will result in increased predictability when utilizing bone augmentation procedures with gore-tex membranes and bone grafts.
