LOD-261-00

Dr. Edmond Bedrossian

75 min

In this presentation Dr Edmond Bedrossian follows up on his previous lecture 'A systematic surgical and restorative plan for treatment of the Edentulous Patient with a Fixed Prosthesis' (catalog #141-00). He will begin by highlighting the differences between the tooth-only defect patient, and the composite defect patient. He will step through 4 different cases, explaining each step that is necessary for a predictable outcome.

Dr Bedrossian will discuss the interarch space as well as the indications for alveolaplasty: economic, technical, and esthetic.

Release: 11/11/2014 | Expires: 11/11/2017

Paradigm Shift: Soft Tissue Concept

LOD-245-00

Dr. IƱaki Gamborena

66 min

In this lecture presentation Dr Gamborena will discuss the Soft Tissue Concept and what it is about. We can face a lot of problems when we get to the surgical part. We can find ourselves with prosthetics and healing abutments that are way too big. Dr Gamborena will share information about a healing abutment that he has been working with for the last 6-8 years, and that has finally entered the market as of fall 2014. He will show how the abutment works and how you can improve the maximization of your space and be able to graft at the ridge with a totally different approach: Following the concept about what we do Today around implants, compensating the volume from bone, shifting into the soft tissue and being able to create prosthetically something beyond what you might be used to so far.

Release: 9/2/2014 | Expires: 9/2/2017

Delivery of Immediate Final Restorations at the Time of Implant Surgery - A Comprehensive Digital Approach to Implant Dentistry

LOD-239-00

Dr. Siamak Abai

51 min

Digital advancements in areas such as intraoral scanning, 3-D printing, and CAD/CAM technology are creating efficiencies while expanding the treatment options available to dentists. These tools allow for streamlined treatment and laboratory protocols that can be modified to meet the individual needs of each patient. In this presentation, Dr. Siamak Abai outlines cases where digital intraoral scans are utilized in conjunction with Cone Beam Computed Tomography scans and CAD/CAM software to fabricate guided surgical guides, custom final abutments, and final restorations prior to implant surgery. A model-less workflow is initiated with intraoral scanning, facilitating delivery of final restorations at the time of implant placement. Topics include:

- Impression making considerations for partially edentulous patient
- Treatment planning and utilization of CAD/CAM software for the fabrication of guided surgical guides
- The benefits and applications of intraoral scanning in the partially edentulous patient
- Clinical and laboratory workflows facilitated by digital impressions
- Traditional and digital techniques involved in the fabrication of final abutments and restorations
- Application of CAD/CAM technology in the design and production of restorations
- Prosthesis fabrication from models produced with 3-D printing technology

Restoration of Failing Teeth with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone - Surgical and Prosthetic Keys to Success - Part 2

LOD-216-00

Dr. Tidu Mankoo

30 min

The purpose of this two part series on "Restoration of 'Failing Teeth' with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone" is to help you predictably achieve highly esthetic outcomes that restore function and stand the test of time. This lecture will present the sound biological principles that can help you approach the treatment of challenging cases where your patient has a seriously compromised dentition. Surgical and prosthetic considerations will be discussed. Is the tooth maintainable? Is it more predictable to maintain the compromised tooth or extract and place an implant? We should always try to save the tooth if possible, but determining this requires analysis of the patient: How old is the patient? What is the tooth's dental history? What is the structural integrity of the tooth? What is the periodontal status? What are the functional demands? This lecture will present and discuss the key elements that we must consider when thinking about implants in the esthetic zone.

Restoration of Failing Teeth with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone - Surgical and Prosthetic Keys to Success - Part 1

CAD/CAM Fabricated Complete Dentures: From Concept to Reality

LOD-214-00

Dr. Charles Goodacre

44 min

This presentation will show the procedures used to record the clinical information needed for the fabrication of conventional complete dentures using CAD/CAM technology as well as the fabrication process itself.

Recently, the technology has been applied to implant overdentures and fixed complete arch provisional prostheses used in conjunction with the immediate loading of dental implants and these procedures are shown.

Retreatment in Endodontics - From Difficult to Complicated Cases

LOD-197-00

Dr. Constantinos Laghios

61 min

In this lecture we will describe the relationship of the root canal anatomy to the lesions that are developed at the periradicular area.

We will also give all the details how to remove safely different kind of materials like gutta-percha, silver cones, broken instruments, posts and pastes.

Details will be given as to avoid any mistakes that would possibly endanger the retreatment perforations and absorptions will be treated in a fast, predictable and simple way.

Unusual TMD Cases - Unusual Treatment

LOD-196-00

Dr. Ilia Roussou

33 min

In this lecture, we will discuss unusual Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) cases and unusual treatments.

We will focus specifically on occlusion and how the relationship of the dental arches interacts with the stability of the Stomatognathic system.

Occlusion is one of the most demanding aspects of dentistry, we all know about the term occlusion confusion.

Although occlusion used to be the main etiological factor for Temporomandibular Disorders and many dental treatments were performed in order to address the pain symptoms, nowadays the literature suggest that the static relationship of the dental arches is rarely the etiological factor for an intracapsular TM joint disorders or a masticatory muscles disorders, In some cases though, were the occlusion compromises the orthopedic stability of the stomatognathic system, once the pain symptoms are treated the dental problem needs to be investigated as a possible etiological factor of the TMD symptoms.

Implant placement in fresh extraction sockets. Key decision factors

LOD-193-00

Prof. Mariano Sanz

50 min

It is well established that tooth extraction will result in an apico-coronal as well as bucco-lingual reduction of the alveolar ridge, mostly in the buccal aspects of the extraction site.

In order to avoid this physiological bone loss some clinicians have advocated the immediate installation of implants in fresh extraction sockets. Different clinical studies have evaluated the impact of this implant placement surgical approach on different outcomes, such as: implant survival, bone crest alterations and aesthetic results.

However, in spite of these reports, there is a lack of well-designed clinical trials that have evaluated these outcomes systematically and there is a lack of knowledge on the possible factors associated with different hard and soft tissue outcomes of this surgical protocol.

This presentation will review the results from clinical trials evaluating the immediate implant placement approach and we hall review the important risk factors (implant design, implant position, implant location, thickness of bony walls, etc.) involved in the clinical outcome.

Finally we shall provide some clinical recommendations on the use of this surgical approach.

Predictable Soft Tissue Grafting for Esthetics in Thin Periodontium

LOD-191-00

Dr. Paul Lin

57 min

This presentation will discuss the thin periodontium and how to utilize this to achieve predictable soft tissue grafting for esthetics.

Soft tissue grafting by root coverage and augmentation can improve the facial esthetics not just for natural teeth, but also for implants.

By utilizing the same concept of placing the soft tissue on the thin periodontium we can help augment the tissue around implants and dentures and improve and enhance the facial esthetics.

Animations will illustrate this concept and provide insight as to how we take the soft tissue away from the pallate and harvest it in an elegant, more predictable fashion.

This will also show how to secure the covering flap so the patient will not experience any pain after the surgery.

This presentation is intended to increase your understanding, comfort and confidence in performing soft tissue grafting in a more predictable way.
