Vital Bleaching

LOD-042-00

Dr. Didier Dietschi

90 min

Different types of discoloration, some of displasic origin and others from acquired pathologies or tissue aging can be improved or sometimes fully corrected by bleaching. Bleaching aims to remove or treat several types of dark stains. The lecture will emphasize on the principles, application methods and potential indications of the various bleaching techniques at hand. All different bleaching protocols have potential to lighten tooth colour but not at the same level of efficacy; information will be provided as regard the likely indications for power / chair-side bleaching and other home bleaching methods. Attendees will also learn how to integrate chemical treatments in a comprehensive approach of aesthetics, which ultimately help us creating beautiful and attractive smiles without unnecessary tissue sacrifice.

Anterior Free-hand Bonding

LOD-041-00

Dr. Didier Dietschi

90 min

The dramatic improvement in the overall population oral health as well as the growing concern of patients for tissue preservation and dental aesthetics has rejuvenated 'free-hand bonding' and made it a primary treatment option for the anterior teeth. Today, composite resin restorations offer conservative, biological and esthetic solutions to many problems, which formerly could only be approached by expensive and more invasive ceramic restorations. However, composite systems are based on different layering concepts and as a consequence, the restoration esthetic potential is strictly linked to a perfect understanding of the shading concept and optical properties of the composite masses in relation with those of natural tissues.
Based on a thorough observation of natural esthetics and the application of the so-called 'natural layering', together with an appropriate selection of composite brands, the clinicians can produce beautiful natural like direct composite restorations. The lecture will cover fundamental knowledge about colour and optical properties of natural tissues, will overview the indications of composite restorations in the front teeth and will provide a comprehensive description of clinical procedures.

Soft Tissue Management During Implant Procedures

Achieving Ultimate Aesthetics with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone - Lecture III

LOD-035-03

Dr. Tidu Mankoo

81 min

Achieving Ultimate Aesthetics with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone
This advanced surgical and prosthetic course will outline the author's contemporary concepts in management of single tooth implants in the aesthetic zone with a view to achieving optimum long term aesthetics and stability. The topic is divided into 3 consecutive lectures designed to be taken as a series. The emphasis will be on the diagnosis, treatment planning and clinical management and an understanding and application of the biological factors that influence our treatment outcomes. The cases will range form simple to complex single tooth cases in both healed ridge and extraction situations following onto the management of multiple adjacent implants, large cases and full arch/full mouth restoration.

Lecture III:
This lecture will deal with multiple and adjacent tooth restoration in healed sites, in immediate replacement and in compromised cases

Achieving Ultimate Aesthetics with Implants in the Aesthetic Zone - Lecture II

Concepts for maintenance of soft tissue architecture and stability will be presented.

Anterior Esthetic Implant Treatment

LOD-032-00

Dr. Bernard Touati

90 min

This lecture will outline the concepts in the optimization of esthetic results on implants with a biological approach. The author will stress the need to clinically obtain long-lasting health and stability of the surrounding soft tissues which should be achieved predictably in each and every surgical and restorative implant treatment. The lecture will cover biologically designed abutments, transmucosal biocompatibility of restorative materials, submergence/emergence profiles, connections/disconnections of prosthetic parts, scanning or impression of abutments connected during 1st stage surgery, and explore treatment options from diagnostic models through immediate provisionals to the optimal definitive ceramic-based restorations. The cases will range from single to multiple implants, in complex or simple situations in healed or extraction sites.

Guided Implant Surgery - A New Dimension in Surgical Precision

LOD-028-00

Dr. Roland Glauser

90 min

Today, dental implants are used to support all different kinds of restorations (fixed vs removable, single-tooth replacement vs partial or full-arch restorations). As a consequence, pre-operative diagnostics are considered to be the foundation of a precise as well as a restoration driven implant placement. Intra-operatively, surgical stents and other visual aids are routinely used to transfer the planned 3-dimensional implant position into the surgical field. However, traditional surgical templates are mostly used to re-check drilling steps and the finally established implant position only on a visual basis. Therefore, local anatomic conditions (bone defects, etc.), limited surgical skills, or simply a poor visual judgement may still lead to a compromised implant positioning. In contrast, a real guided implant surgery relates to a new generation of surgical template and offers a precise transfer of the planned implant position into the surgical field. Thereby, pre-operative planning and production of surgical templates are either model based (for single-tooth and small partial cases) or computer generated (long-span partial and edentulous cases). Overall, guided implant surgery reduces chairside time, morbidity, post-operative pain and swelling, and may also offer a flap-less surgical approach or an immediate restoration protocol. Hence, guided implant surgery may also be considered as a next level in quality assurance. This lecture discusses todays different options using either model based or CT-derived templates for guided implant surgery.
