D273-00 Immediate Dentin Sealing After 20+ years of experience with Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS) Dr. Magne is happy to report that this technique has consistently proven itself. Dr Magne will show how IDS adheres to the biomimetic approach to dentistry. He will explain the principles behind IDS. He will discuss its 20+ advantages, as well as its 2 disadvantages (both of which can be avoided). He will walk you step-by-step through 2 cases, and he will demonstrate the forgiving aspects of IDS in cases where all goes wrong. D151-00 No Post No Crown What is No-post, No-crown Biomimetic Dentistry? You may ask yourself as a practitioner: what is your core value? Should your restoration last forever? Or should the tooth substance underneath your restoration last forever? This lecture will help you decide. New concepts called biomimetic principles will be discussed. You will learn about science. You will learn about common sense. You will learn about experience on bonded restorations and you will understand what is called the adhesive revolution. You will learn about laminate veneers, and bonded porcelain in the anterior dentition...Not only the cosmetic beauty of it but the foundations of biology, mechanics, function, and of course aesthetics. Posterior teeth will also be discussed and we will explore the amazing possibilities that are possible now because of those bonding techniques that have evolved both on anterior teeth and posterior teeth. We will discuss the immediate dentin sealing technique that should improve the quality of your bonding... FLS-11 Biomimetic Restorative DentistryThe goals of contemporary restorative dentistry and prosthodontics should be (1) the maintenance of the vitality of the teeth to be restored and (2) the maximum preservation of sound tooth structure. The core idea of the biomimetic principle in restorative dentistry and prosthodontics is that the intact tooth in its ideal hues and shades, and perhaps more importantly in its intracoronal anatomy, mechanics and location in the arch, is the guide to reconstruction and determinant of success. The approach is basically conservative and biologically sound. The application of the biomimetic principle involves returning all of the prepared dental tissues to full functional by the creation of a hard tissue bond that allows functional stresses to pass through the tooth, drawing the entire crown into the final functional biologic and esthetic result. Unlike traditional alloy restorations and cemented crowns, novel-design indirect composite resin/porcelain adhesive restorations are stress distributors and involve the crown of the tooth as a whole in supporting occlusal force and masticatory function. Indirect bonded restorations, also provide the practitioner with a noninvasive and social restorative tool owing to the minimum maintenance costs. One can anticipate considerable improvements such as in the treatment of crown-fractured and worn-down teeth, which should reduce the need for preprosthetic interventions (e.g. root canal therapy and crown-lengthening) and the use of intraradicular posts.

Bio-Integrated Restorative Dentistry

Dr. Costin Marinescu
We want to achieve long-lasting results for our patients in treatments that are perfectly tolerated by the body, restore good health, and look beautiful. This presentation will outline the logical flow-chart that Dr. Marinescu utilizes every day in his own practice (Exam >> Diagnosis >> Treatment >> Maintenance) and the interconnection of each individual step with each other. The Stomatognathic System (the ensemble of bones, muscles, joints, teeth and supporting structures) has two states: Pathological and Physiological. How these two conditions influence each other will be discussed, and how important it is for us to find the threshold between the two. This presentation will also look at occlusion concepts: how teeth come in contact, and the pathways through which they are moving in performing everyday functions like chewing, and how to design our restorations so we can achieve beautiful results but that are functionally tolerated and perfectly integrated with our patients" health. A history of occlusion concepts will be presented that will cover all the way through to the latest research that are empowering us more and more to offer our patients minimally invasive restorative dentistry that will balance their Stomatognathic System and that will offer a predictability for long term. Offer your patients the most conservative treatments with the minimum impact and the stability of the Stomatognathic System with a long term impact in quality of life...and a beautiful esthetic result.

Which Ceramic Should I Use? A Clinical Perspective - Part 1
LOD-169-00
This presentation aims to lift the large cloud of confusion that surrounds contemporary dental ceramics and their application. A systematic solution will be provided for common clinical situations. A complete range of common clinical situations will be discussed. This includes, important sequencing and design consideration for restoring implants adjacent to ceramic restorations. The following questions will be addressed: - How do we achieve longevity while maintaining a high level of aesthetics? - Why, when and where should each contemporary ceramic material be used? - What role do soft tissues play in ceramic material selection? Participation in this presentation will allow delegates to be able to communicate more effectively with dental technicians. They will also be able to use dental ceramics predictably with dental implants. In part 1: An outline for the presentation will be provided. In addition, a contemporary and simplified classification for contemporary dental ceramics will be provided. This classification will allow proper communication and make the selection process simple. In this part the participants will be able to understands the benefits of feldspathic ceramics and their limitation. They will be able to decide what type of ceramics to use and where, in order to get the best esthetic results with good long term outcomes. A step-by-step evidence based approach for predictable bonding will be proposed.

Implantoplasty: A Patient's Journey
LOD-217-00
Dr. Egon Euwe
This lecture follows a patient's journey to a procedure called implantoplasty. We will take you back in time to the year 2001, back when we treated our patient with an implant supported restoration. It's a fixed bridge, porcelain fused to metal, as these were typically treated 15-20 years ago. It was a passive fit, glued onto single abutments placed on five implants. The patient was wearing a traditional upper-denture with acrylic teeth and a lower fixed bridge with porcelain fused to metal. This caused excessive wear. Now there are better options which will be explained in this lecture. We can improve esthetics of the denture, and we can work with more modern and stronger materials in order to avoid the problem we faced years ago. The patient had also developed peri-implantitis at the site of one of her implants. This, of course, can be quite common. This lecture includes a clinical video that will show the surgical steps that were taken to treat this. The clinical video also includes a free gingival graft that was a part of the procedure. By the end, a stable result is achieved and maintained which will be shown in our patient's follow-up.

NobelActive - Predictable Function and Aesthetics
LOD-219-00
Dr. Ophir Fromovich
This introductory lecture will take you on a journey to see how the NobelActive can help you through various cases ranging from simple to complex.First you will learn about the design, biologic, and feature of the NobelActive implant. We will show you how to utilize NobelActive in cases where there is a severe defect in the molar area after extraction where there is only 1mm, and what you can do in cases where you want to preserve the papilla between two implants. You will be shown the benefits of being able to change direction when placing NobelActive, and when it is best to do this. We will present hard cases: one involving severe atrophy in the mazilla, and another involving two missing congenital laterals in a limited spacing where a 3mm is utilized. You will learn how to best utilize NobelActive in All-on-4 and All-on-6 cases with fixation. We will also present a case where there is a failed implant and how we successfully replace it with immediate loading of a NobelActive.
